Life Education Luncheon 2025

September 23, 2025

Guests were greeted by the tallest celebrity in Wellington, Harold the Giraffe, as they arrived at our Life Education Trust Charity Luncheon last week. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, the event was a huge success – an afternoon filled with laughter, bidding wars, and big-hearted giving. The room quickly filled with energy, conversation, and a shared purpose: to raise funds for an organisation that helps tamariki make positive choices for a healthy, bright future.

Why This Cause Matters

Life Education Trust has been inspiring Kiwi kids for more than 30 years, teaching them about health, wellbeing, and resilience. With their iconic mobile classrooms and the much-loved Harold, they bring to life – helping children develop the knowledge and confidence they need to make positive decisions throughout their lives. Their work is about so much more than a single classroom visit; it’s about planting seeds that support young people to thrive, even when they face tough choices.

Event Highlights

The luncheon was full of special moments. Guests mingled over lunch, swapped stories, and bid generously during the live auction – all in the spirit of supporting Life Education Trust. The generosity in the room was incredible, with every bid helping to ensure this program continues to reach children across Wellington.

Words of Inspiration from Paul Wood

One of the day’s highlights was hearing for guest speaker, Dr Paul Wood, who shared powerful insights about the importance of supporting young people as they grow. As Paul put it “The more we talk with kids about making positive choices, the more likely those choices are to be made. Harold and the Life Education Trust are an important ingredient in that mix.”

Paul encouraged parents and caregivers to focus on building strong relationships with their children, explaining that, “Being a parent is the most demanding job without an instruction manual. It’s so much easier when you’re not alone in the struggles, joys, and your approach to parenting.” He reminded everyone that forming a community of like-minded parents can make the journey easier – and that organisations like Life Education Trust, alongside schools, play a critical role in giving our tamariki the tools they need to flourish.

Our Role as Principal Sponsor

As principal sponsor, we were proud to host this special event and help bring the community together to support this incredible cause. Thanks to everyone who attended, donated, and bid in the auctions, we were able to raise $46,600 to ensure Life Education Trust can continue their important mahi with Wellington’s tamariki.

Looking Ahead

We left the luncheon feeling inspired and hopeful – proof of what can happen when a community comes together for a cause that matters. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Life Education Trust for the work you do every single day.
