Robert and his family moved to Whitby from Wellington in 1987. Their intention was to only stay for 6 months and then move back into the city!! 29 years later? They are still here! In fact one neighbour said “once you have a summer here you won’t want to move back!” A bit about Robert He started his career in the clothing industry on the retail/wholesale side then progressed to the car industry as a salesperson for many years. He took a break from this to own and run one of Wellington’s icon restaurants for 5 years (Windows on Wellington) then returned to the car industry in a management role where he ran several successful motor dealerships around Wellington/Porirua city.
As well as this role he jointly owned a motoring magazine, got it up and running then sold his shares to other partners in the business. Towards the end of the magazine Robert sat his real estate licence (2006) and has been with Tommy’s since 2008 when the company started in the Porirua area.
